I went with my sister to get her baby a check up & they were trying to press the vaccine on her baby whos 1yr. & my sister told them no several times & finally I told the doctor no thanks and when the nurse came in she brought shots & i asked her what they were & she said it was the H1n1 shot like we requested… OHHH i tell you I lit into that nurse & doctor. & i NEVER have been back to that clinic.
I will not be taking the H1N1 vaccine. no thanks. everywhere i go ppl are pressing it on you & its pisses me off.

washing hands can only affect ( lower ) the infectious rate not the mortality rate – the mortality rate depends on the virus, its mutation etc. and is constant AFAIK

What if the low mortality rate in swine flu is just because of lot of media about this and people are more careful, washing their hands etc.

I have never had a flu shot in my whole life and I am 65, I don’t plan on taking it, and I haven’t had the flu in 5 years

In this case the simple fact is that virus’s can and do mutate within a single year. She is correct that in the case of a mutation the vaccine would be less effective.
My mom, who is an administrator within the elder care in Sweden, reported that several nurses had severe side effects with fevers and pain after taking the swine flu vaccine and had to stay at home, unable to work.
She remarked that she hadn’t seen such severe reactions to any other kind of yearly flu vaccine administered earlier years. I, for one, am not taking it.
Oh, and I meant flu vaccines contaminated with avian flu, before you jump on that, since you seem to love semantics.
Yet, she clearly talks about mutations about 30 seconds after that quote, so maybe she just mispoke. Figures, you would point to the one misstep in this long, informative talk. What about the contaminated avian flu vaccines, or the dubious pandemic declaration and all that comes with? What about the adjuvants and the history of problems with vaccines including Gulf War Syndrome and SV40 cancer viruses. What about the waiver of liability?

Have you got the sources you found this information about the virus mutating? I´d like to see it, to get to some conclusion.
I’ll grant that the translation is unclear and her intent may have been to say this virus has never mutated twice in a year.
That said even saying a virus has never mutated within the same year is inaccurate. The initial outbreak of 1918 A/H1N1 in the spring was mild however the virus mutated over the summer becoming far more lethal in the fall. There are some theories that there was third mutation in late fall 1918 making it far less lethal again.
The exact quote is “this virus is not known to have ever mutated in this short period of time, during a period of 70 years. I mean, what we didn’t have for 70 years is a flu coming in two waves with different virus.”
The clear meaning here is within the year…

Seems very clear that she is saying the virus has never mutated, which is false. Even if it was true it doesn’t follow that a mutation this year is impossible.
I think you should watch it again, as you obviously misunderstood… She says we never had two waves of flu in a year, so never a mutated flu in the same year.
