Gottcha, I’m a fan of herbal remedies. Remember at least half of pharma is based on compounds discovered in nature. That said, no herbal or dietary changes has shown particularly effective at preventing or curing–the plague, AIDES, Hanta, BSE, Influenza, Ebola, etc. Hygiene REALLY helps, but cures are the key. We have eradicated smallpox for example. Cures usually arise from studies of natural and synthetic compounds, the pathogen involved, lots of research, trials, and lots of time.

I have seen Black Cherry juice concentrate cure gout. “If only he had known…” It wouldn’t work for everyone but nonetheless, I know for a fact it works. The person must also discover which & change the dietary factors that brought it on –and that might be the tricky part.

Vitamins and Hygiene would be great in reducing risk of infection–some did move out to the country to avoid the plague–though they never figured out the actual vector (fleas.) Not sure I’d take this treatment alone if I HAD the plague or other serious disease. Seems like with his insight he should have invented antibiotics (from mold readily available to him) and he could have saved Millions! Or a pesticide for the fleas……

Ever hear about the 1500s physician who became very famous for his tremendous success in saving victims of the plague…..and his practices were to promote cleanliness in their environment, and the sufferer to be taken out into the sunshine(Vitamin D) and fresh air. He also made a “potion” of fresh berries and rose hips, which would have been high in Vitamins C and A, and anti-oxidants.
